• Crimean authorities have disclosed information about the availability of drinking water on the Peninsula

  • In reservoirs of the Crimea accumulated 234 million cubic meters of drinking water, which is 23 percent more than in July last year. About this on air of the TV channel "The First Crimean" said the head of the state Committee for water management of the Republic Igor Weil, reports RIA Novosti.

    The official said that the Simferopol and the southern coast of Crimea is provided with water to the end of the year, the Northern and Eastern part of the Peninsula — at least until the end of the holiday season. "Last year on this date we had about 190 million cubic meters of water," he said.

    Weil added that all the water supplied to the water supply system, is the mountain, its quality control is regularly carried out together with the CPS.

    30 April the Ukrainian authorities announced on the completion of construction of the dam on the North Crimean canal on the border with the Peninsula. According to reports in the Kyiv media, stationary concrete dam "finally cut arid the Crimea from the Dnieper water." The dam was built during the year, spending on the project is 35 million (approximately 75 million rubles).

    In 2014, after the Crimea became part of Russia, Kiev started cover the locks of the canal, through which water from the Dnepr entered the Peninsula. Then this waterway was satisfied about 80 percent of needs of the Crimea in the resource. The region began to use internal sources of drinking and technical water supply. While lying on the Peninsula part of the North-Crimean canal used to supply water from local sources.
