Transcontinental expedition "To the East!" held in four Russian cross-country vehicles "Sherpa". She was launched on 14 April from Arkhangelsk and plans to finish in early November in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The objective of the expedition was the summer route along the Arctic circle and a demonstration of the ability of continuous transport in remote areas of the North. The nearest stop is planned in Zhigansk (Republic of Sakha).
At the start the leader of the expedition, the designer of the "Sherpa" Alexis Garagashyan noted that a key portion, from which depends the success of the expedition, is the Putorana plateau is the most elevated and highly dissected massif in the North-West of the Central Siberian plateau in Krasnoyarsk Krai. Before the expedition Garagashian access here was only by helicopter and on water or on foot.
