  • In the Public chamber of Sevastopol held a working meeting on the election of the Governor, which will be held on September 10. The event was attended by member of the Public chamber of the Russian Federation, the Director of noncommercial Fund "the Study of the problems of democracy" Maxim Grigoriev. On Wednesday, July 13, reports the press service of the city government.

    "In the modern history of Sevastopol for the first time the Governor is elected by popular vote. This is a momentous day, so it's important to go with the observance of electoral legislation. I have no doubt that the elections will be fair and open, since the authorities of the city like nobody else are interested in this is a reputation moment", — said Grigoriev.

    He added that the Public chamber of the Russian Federation will help the authorities of Sevastopol to organize the election process, to prepare independent observers. "It is necessary, for example, to observers on the plots had a corresponding set of legal knowledge to thoroughly understand the conduct of elections. Now, a team of independent representatives of the public chamber of the city, public and youth organizations. We are ready to provide them the necessary support", — said Grigoriev.

    9 Jun acting Governor of Sevastopol Dmitry Ovsyannikov first filed documents for registration of the candidate in governors from the party "United Russia". "Now comes the period in which I will try to prove that I'm the one candidate for whom to vote," said he.

    In accordance with the Charter of the city of Sevastopol, as amended on November 29, 2016, the Governor is elected through direct elections for a term of five years and not more than two consecutive terms.
