• In the Public chamber proposed to the deputies to raise the minimum wage to 30 thousand rubles

  • The Public chamber has proposed a set of measures to combat poverty in Russia. In particular, the minimum wage (SMIC) can be increased to 30 thousand rubles. Letter of proposals sent to the state Duma, the Public chamber member Vladimir Slepak, reports dni.ru.

    It also presents a list of measures to improve the quality and increase the life expectancy of Russians. According to the authors of the letter, the minimum wage, which currently amounts to 7.5 thousand rubles will grow three sizes of the subsistence minimum, which equals to 9956..

    "Complaints to the Public chamber, suggests that the rising cost of food and medicine makes the Russians "tighten their belts", and many of them were already below the poverty line," says Slepak.

    The labour Ministry said they would discuss the proposed changes. On 20 October the head of Department Maxim Topilin said that from July 2017, the minimum wage will increase four percent, to 7,800 rubles.
