Russia illegally produces two billion cubic meters of natural gas per year on the Black sea shelf, which is the economic zone of Ukraine. This statement was made by the head of the Ukrainian company "Chernomorneftegaz" Svetlana Nezhnova, UNIAN reports.
"If anyone wondered where the Crimea takes gas, the answer is that Russia is using this company in the Black sea produces annually two billion of gas and, thus, provides the Crimea", — she said at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on fuel and energy complex.
Ninova added that natural gas mined in the area, which is the economic zone of Ukraine. "The Russian Federation violates the Convention on the law of the sea, UN, 1982," — said the head of the company. She also recalled that the Russian company "Chernomorneftegaz" has got all the sanctions lists.
In 2015, the Crimean authorities reported of provocation of Ukraine against Russian "Chernomorneftegaz". Then the ships of frontier service and the Ukrainian Navy tried to intervene in the operation of drilling rigs of the company, then for their protection was sent to the Russian patrol boat.
In mid-December last year, the press service of "Chernomorneftegaz", said that in connection with the "difficult international situation" the operation was carried out for relocation of two rigs from the Odessa gas field (located in the North-Western shelf of the Black sea, 150 kilometers from the coast) in the Russian territorial waters.
"Chernomorneftegaz" to the annexation of Crimea to Russia in March 2014 was part of the "Naftogaz of Ukraine" and was part of the fuel and energy complex of Ukraine. Subsequently, the company was nationalized by the Crimean authorities. The company operates hydrocarbon deposits on the shelf of the Black and Azov seas and on the land part of the Crimean Peninsula.
