• Three hundred years of pine forest called the new natural monument of Ugra

  • Pine forest with trees older than 300 years in the Nefteyugansk district of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous district has become the new natural monument of the region, reports TASS with reference to the Department of public and external relations of the regional government.

    "Documents to establish another monument of nature — the territory of "far, Neris" — will be taken at one of the nearest meetings of the government of the Autonomous Okrug", — noted in Department. In this unique natural landscape cedar trees are growing 30 percent faster than in other forest areas of the region, it is also the oldest, with a diameter more than a meter.

    The Deputy Governor of the Khanty Alexei Zabozlaev noted that in this area per hectare is 350 cubic meters of wood, while the average in the region of 115. Length of the special area is about 15 km, width — from 2 to 3 kilometers. Now about Bora live two families of local indigenous peoples in the future the government intends to open here the tourist routes.

    9 March the authorities of the neighboring Yamal-Nenets Autonomous district, has announced the opening of a new Sinsco-Waikaraka reserve. Its area is will be more than 292 thousand hectares, it is located on the territory of the Shuryshkarsky district of the Yamal.
