• Revealed the dates for elections of the President of the RAS

  • During the meeting, the General meeting of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), it was decided to postpone the election of the President. About it reports TASS from the audience of the event.

    Thus, elections of the new head of the RAS transferred from March 22 for the fall of 2017. The decision was taken by majority vote after all candidates withdrew their candidacies. The procedure will be done not later than November 20, 2017, during which time there should be developed a new Charter for the election of the President of the Academy.

    Along with this, the Assembly requests the Russian government to extend the powers of the management of RAS for the period before the election. At the same time, the current President of the Academy Vladimir Fortov said that I would not like to renew their mandate.
