• Putin presented the order of friendship of Emir Kusturica

  • Russian President Vladimir Putin presented a Friendship award to Serbian film Director Emir Kusturica. The award ceremony of foreign citizens took place in the Kremlin on 4 November — national unity Day, reports "Interfax".

    Similar awards were also awarded to the Director of China's state Bolshoi theatre Pin Chen and President of the American investment company Lehrman LLC Susan Elizabeth Lerman.

    In addition, the head of state presented medals of Pushkin to the Chairman of the Kyrgyz Center of support of Russian language and cultural heritage of the "Russian heritage" Sergey Peremyshliany, former Minister of culture of Armenia Asiku Poghosyan, Secretary General of the Austrian Association of teachers of Russian language and literature Erich Pointner and the Director of the Moldovan State Russian drama theatre named after Chekhov Konstantin Hereto.

    Speaking at the awards ceremony, the Russian leader expressed hope for the restoration of full relations between Moscow and Washington. "In our countries — and in Russia, and the United States — there are people who value each other, respect and love the culture and the United States, and Russian culture.     Earlier on Friday, Putin, in the framework of the events devoted to Day of national unity opened on Borovitskaya square in Moscow a monument in honor of Prince Vladimir, visited the exhibition "Russia — My story. 1945-2016" in the Arena, and laid flowers to the monument to Minin and Pozharsky on red square.
