In Moscow announced the winners of the architectural contest "the Golden ratio-2017". One of the most complex and prestigious nominations won the project of the Murmansk Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral of the sea, reports "Evening Murmansk". It is noted that the object of Church architecture was awarded for the first time in the twenty year history of the competition.
Participated in the contest with 134 works, they competed in 11 categories. The Murmansk project was awarded in the nomination "Project. Urban complex", beating the Cathedral of the Resurrection of the ensemble of the new Jerusalem monastery in Istra, a Temple of new martyrs and Confessors of Russia, Lubyanka, Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh in Solntsevo and the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.
In 2016, the Patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) Kirill laid the capsule in the Foundation of a new Cathedral of the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral of the sea. The Cathedral was started to build in 1916, when it was founded as Murmansk, but it did not have time because of the revolution.
