• Odessa deputies urged Poroshenko to grant special status to the Donbas

  • Group of deputies of the Odessa city Council "For port" addressed the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko with a call to fulfill the political part of Minsk agreements and to provide separate districts of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts special status. On Wednesday, November 2, reports the Ukrainian edition of "Vesti".

    According to the parliamentarians, this will begin the process of transfer of power mechanisms in other regions. The "Odessa must be given the opportunity of implementing the regime of the free port which stimulates economic development in our region and allow us to overcome the crisis phenomena in economy and social sphere", — the statement says.

    According to the Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Sergey Dunayev, Ukraine looks indecent in front of the international community due to the delay of the implementation of the political provisions of the Minsk agreements. "For the final settlement of the conflict in the Donbass President of Ukraine and the Verkhovna Rada should adopt priority actions and to take responsibility for the fate of a unified Ukraine", — quotes the edition Dunaeva.

    24 Oct foreign Minister of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier said, the process of implementation of the Minsk agreements is moving at a snail's pace.

    Deputy Association "For the port" were registered in the Odessa city Council in March 2016. The group included 18 members that serve for the announcement of the port of Odessa customs-free area.

    In February 2015 the leaders of the Quartet in the capital of Belarus signed "The complex of measures on implementation of Minsk agreements". In the document stipulates, in particular, the cease-fire, the implementation in Ukraine of the constitutional reform, the holding of elections in the Donbass, and the legislative recognition of the special status of the region.
