• Ukraine will review the list of banned Russian artists

  • Ukraine will revise the list of Russian performers banned from entering the country. On Friday, April 21, Minister of culture of Ukraine Evgeny nisoc said on air of TSN TV channel.

    According to Yevhen Nyshchuk, the "black lists" were prepared "hastily", some intellectuals in them by accident. However, he added, there are a lot of Russian artists who, by their statements and actions do pose a threat to Ukraine but not listed is prohibited.

    The Minister noted that an interdepartmental Commission with participation of representatives of the security Service of Ukraine (SBU), the National Council on television and radio broadcasting, specialists, experts, representatives of media companies. Together they study the case of banned artists.

    22 Mar SBU refused to allow the Russian representative at the Eurovision song contest Julia Samoylova, banning her entry for three years. "The decision was made on the basis of the data on violation of legislation of Ukraine", — has explained a press-the Secretary of SBU Elena Gitlyanskaya. In June 2015, the girl acted in Crimea — Russian territory, which Kiev considers its but temporarily occupied (Ukraine established there a specific order of entry and exit).

    At the beginning of 2017 Ukraine has banned the entry of 140 Russian cultural figures who according to the SBU, threaten national security. Among them actors Mikhail Boyarsky, Natalya Varley, Valentina Talyzina, and Valentin Gaft, singers Oleg Gazmanov and Joseph Kobzon.
