• Moscow square will be named in honor of Islam Karimov

  • One of Moscow parks in the area Yakimanka will be named in honor of the first President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov reported on of the Metropolitan municipality.

    The Park, which will be named Karimov, is close to the Consulate of Uzbekistan. At the moment he is nameless. With a request to rename it addressed the science, politics and art in Russia and Uzbekistan. Consideration of the application is scheduled for 1 November.

    In September one of the mosques of Tashkent, it was decided assign the name of Islam Karimov.

    On the death of 78-year-old Karimov it was announced on the evening of 2 September, the day the head of state was buried in Samarkand. The President was hospitalized on August 27 after suffering a stroke.

    Islam Karimov has been President of Uzbekistan since 1991, the March 1990 was also in charge of the Uzbek SSR. In the Soviet period was in the post of First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist party of Uzbekistan (1989 to 1991) and Minister of Finance of the Republic.
