"Of course, Oleg Popov is the symbol of the circus. Of course, consider if there are such applications. We have two seats of a circus, and may be offered any of them," — said Voskresensky.
The Chairman of the Commission of Moscow city Council on culture and mass communications Evgeny Gerasimov supported the idea of the monument to the artist. "You just have to think about where and how to do it better. But I think that could be his figure, too far from the circus place. It would be correct, because the circus is connected with the name," he said.
Gerasimov also proposed to install a memorial plaque on the house where lived the clown.
Popov died on 2 November in Rostov-on-don, where he arrived on tour. It stopped heart. The artist was 86 years old.
Relatives of the clown wished to bury him in Germany, where he emigrated in 1991. In June 2015, priests for the first time since then visited Russia to receive the international circus award "Master" in the nomination "Legend of the circus."
