Major British companies are interested in new contracts with "Gazprom" for the supply of fuel. This was stated by the Deputy Chairman of the Board of gas holding Alexander Medvedev in interview TV channel "Russia 24".
"We see interest from large British companies, which would like now to conclude a gas supply contract. The gas pipeline "Nord stream-2" would allow to deliver gas not only in Central Europe but in the UK," — said Medvedev.
According to the Chairman of the Board of the holding company, UK is the only European country, "which speaks not only about climate protection, but also took the decision to close coal-fired power plants". Such measures, he said, will require the purchase of additional volumes of gas.
"Called numbers 8, 10, and 12 billion cubic meters. And that time is not far off," — said the Deputy head of "Gazprom".
Alexander Medvedev noted that Gazprom has not yet received a formal proposal of the European Commission on the transit of gas to Europe through the pipeline "Turkish stream".
Earlier head "Gazprom" Alexey Miller noted that exports to the UK could double. By the end of 2016, he predicted that the supply of 8-10 billion cubic meters of gas.
In mid-October, "Gazprom" established a new absolute daily record of deliveries of gas in the far abroad — 578,9 million cubic meters. At the same time the company said that in the first nine months of the current year the holding has increased its exports to far-abroad countries 10.7 billion cubic meters in comparison with the same period in 2015.
