The Federal Antimonopoly service (FAS) of Russia has started to check the condom market to develop mechanisms to reduce their cost. This was stated by Rambler News Service the head of Department of control of social sphere and trade Department Timofey Nizhegorodtsev.
"We began this analysis of the market, but any market analysis has several major stages. The first stage involves a preliminary description of the geographical and grocery borders, now inside FAS we started the discussion," he said.
In the next step, according to the official, to confirm the preliminary findings, as well as set manufacturers, suppliers, volumes and determine the occupied market share. Nizhegorodtsev said that the FAS expects by June to go to the second stage.
At the end of April 2017, the Russian government instructed the Ministry of health, the Ministry of industry, Healthcare and the Federal Antimonopoly service to develop mechanisms for reducing the prices of medical products used in barrier contraceptives. These activities will be carried out in the framework of the state strategy for combating the spread of HIV infection.
