• Designer world Cup died at the age of 95 years

  • Italian designer Silvio Gazzaniga, who developed and created the World Cup, has died at the age of 95 years. It is reported Gazzeta dello Sport.

    "He quietly passed away in his sleep at his home. At night he went to sleep and in the morning we realized that he wasn't breathing," — said the son of the sculptor Giorgio Gazzaniga.

    He designed and created the world Cup in 1971. The first winner of the trophy was the team of Germany in the final match of the 1974 world Cup defeated the team of the Netherlands with the score 2:1. The Germans are also the current winners of the world Cup.

    Also Gazzaniga was the Creator of the UEFA Cup, the UEFA super Cup.
