Former NATO Secretary General, Advisor to the President of Ukraine Anders Fogh Rasmussen urged the U.S. to actively intervene in world conflicts and has criticized U.S. President Barack Obama for indecision. He said this in an interview with Sky News, published on Thursday, 3 November.
The US President, according to Rasmussen, is too reluctant to use military force and threaten its use to prevent conflicts in the world. "We need America as world policeman. We need motivated America's global leadership", he said, adding that the United States as the world's policeman should "restore international law and order".
The US, as suggested by the former Secretary General of NATO, there is no other way but to return to the path of intervention in the Affairs of other countries. "Superpowers don't retire" — he stressed.
World, according to Rasmussen, is on fire. "Syria torn apart by war and conflict. Iraq on the verge of collapse. Libya — a failed state in North Africa," he said. Advisor Poroshenko also accused Russia of aggression against Ukraine and the destabilization of Eastern Europe, China — in the game its muscles and North Korea nuclear threats.
Rasmussen also expressed deep concern about the possibility of coming to power in the US Republican Donald trump. This scenario, in his opinion, could be "extremely dangerous." "We do not know what policy will be to carry out the administration of the tramp, but if taken at face value his statements, in my opinion, is a danger for the whole world", — said the Ukrainian President's adviser.
In September Rasmussen said, the US should act as "world policeman". "My experience as Prime Minister of Denmark and NATO Secretary General I know how important American leadership. We desperately need a US President who is able and wants to lead the free world and to resist samplescialis leaders, as the President [of Russia Vladimir] Putin. The world needs this police, if freedom and prosperity prevail over the forces of oppression, and the only one capable, reliable and desirable candidate for this position are the United States," — he stressed.
The President Of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko appointed Rasmussen his adviser at the end of may.
