  • The former Prosecutor General of Tehran Saeed Mortazavi (Saeed Mortazavi) was sentenced to 135 lashes after a court found him guilty of corruption-related crimes. About it reports Reuters.

As has established a consequence, Mortazavi being in 2012-13 as head of the Department of social security of Iran (non-governmental organization dedicated to the insurance of the elderly, the unemployed and other vulnerable people), "was appropriated and spent the people's money." Human rights activists have expressed outrage at the sentence: they consider it too lenient.

49-summer Mortazavi was considered one of the most faithful supporters of the former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Mortazavi accused that he was sent to jail dozens of journalists, gave orders to disperse the demonstrators, encouraged torture in prisons. Mortazavi, said the Agency, was the victim of a political struggle between Ahmadinejad and the Larijani clan.
