The share of Russians who know what the name of the holiday celebrated in Russia on 4 November reached the maximum for the whole history of sociological observations. About it reports on Thursday, November 3, "Interfax" with reference to the results of a survey conducted "Levada-Center".
Correctly specify the name of the holiday — national unity Day are 56 percent of the citizens. In 2010, the figure was 36 percent and in 2005, 8 percent.
According to 16 percent of respondents, November 4, Russia celebrates the Day of accord and reconciliation, 6 percent believe that we are talking about the Day of the October revolution, and 3 percent called it a Day of liberation from Polish-Lithuanian invaders. Are unable to name the occasion or refused to answer 17% of respondents.
To celebrate the Day of national unity is going every fifth Russian, 14 per cent will instead celebrate November 7 the October revolution Day. While 58 percent of respondents said that indifferently apply to both holidays.
The survey was conducted October 21-24 among 800 people over the age of 18 in 137 localities of the 48 regions of Russia.
National unity day celebrated in Russia on 4 November since 2005. The history of the holiday connected with the victory of the people's militia over the poles in 1612, when under the leadership of Minin and Pozharsky was taken to China town and liberated the Kremlin.
