• Assad declared intention to remain Syria's President until 2021

  • Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said that he plans to take the post of head of the head of state at least until the expiration of his third seven-year term in 2021. About it the Syrian leader said in an interview with The New York Times.

    Assad also ruled out the possibility of political change, until government troops will not win the war. The President added that the state of the social system in Syria is currently "much better than before the war".

    Assad became President in July 2000.
