People's artist of Russia Victor Smirnov will be buried on Monday, August 14, at the Serafimovskoe cemetery in St. Petersburg. About it reported the press service of the Alexandrinsky theatre, where he served as actor.
A visitation will be held at the theater, the funeral in the Church of St. Seraphim of Sarov.
"In recent years, Victor F. was struggling with a serious illness, but his creative life until the last day was a full-blooded. The artist remained faithful to the service of the Alexandrinsky theatre and was indispensable in many leading plays, his new role was the events of the theatrical life of the Russian stage", — stated in the message.
Smirnov graduated from the Gorky theatre school. The troupe of the Alexandrinsky theatre joined in 1983. He has performed over 70 roles in movies, including playing "Boris Godunov" (1986), "Streets of the broken lanterns" (1998), "Agent of national security — 2" (2000), "the Master and Margarita" (2005) and "Liquidation" (2007). In 1992 he received the title of people's artist of Russia.
